On March 14, 2025, Karuna Sadan Trust hosted the Marriage Matters seminar at Kurla West, bringing together couples across Mumbai for an afternoon of learning, connection, and renewal. Held under the theme Strengthening Relationships, the event was designed to equip couples with practical tools and timeless wisdom for building enduring marriages and strong family foundations.

Words That Build Homes

The seminar was anchored by Mrs. Anita Fernandes and Mr. Michael Fernandes, whose sessions struck a powerful balance between practical counsel and heartfelt encouragement. Mrs. Anita addressed the pressures facing modern marriages, speaking on emotional attunement, the art of listening without defensiveness, and the quiet courage required to choose one another day after day. Her session was candid, warm, and deeply relevant to the realities couples navigate today.

Mr. Michael Fernandes followed with a grounded, story-driven session on building family foundations that last. He spoke on servant leadership within the home, mutual honour, and how shared values create the stability that children and future generations depend upon. Together, the speakers reminded the gathering that the home is the first school and the first community a child will ever know.

Building Trust, Together

A standout feature of the afternoon was a series of guided trust-building exercises that moved couples from passive listening to active participation. Pairs were led through exercises in active listening, vulnerability, affirmation, and collaborative decision-making. For many, these moments proved the most meaningful of the day. The simple act of pausing, turning to face one another, and truly hearing each other proved quietly transformative. Laughter, tears, and renewed resolve filled the room.

Modern Marriage, Timeless Values

Throughout the seminar, speakers addressed issues highly relevant to today’s couples: navigating conflict constructively, managing finances as a team, raising children in a digitally saturated world. What is built within the walls of a home, the speakers affirmed, shapes what is carried into the world.

Following the session, refreshments were served, with snacks and a bottle of water provided for each couple in attendance.
